I love these girls.  I’ve had the great fortune of photographing them for the past couple of years, and every time we get together it’s a lot of fun.  As the temperatures currently hover around 100, the pool seems cool and refreshing.  However, we shot this in early May — they had the heat cranked up in the pool and the swim session was fairly short.  It was a tad chilly — hard to believe right now!

What a special pair of girls!  I have to be honest — I was a little concerned when we started, as one of the sisters cried and cried and cried.  As a mom of twins, I understand this challenge very well:  when one child is “on” the other one is not, and vice versa.  I’m assuming it’s the same way with non-twin siblings, but I have no idea.  So, I had two goals:  1) capture each girl’s smile, and 2) get the girls together.  I am happy to report that I accomplished both!  Whew.  Tough shoot.  Super sweet girls.  Really nice  (and calm & patient) parents.

As a photographer, I suppose I shouldn’t be so amazed every year when Rachel shoots my family portrait… but I am. I’m amazed by the fun of the experience, the emotion of looking at the photos during the ordering session and the thrill of hanging our portraits on the wall. I love the magic of it – and am humbled that so many Kansas Citians choose us to photograph their families and give them this amazing experience.

[We first met Nicole & Luke when they hired Kdog (then black dog) to document their wedding. Since then they've had four kids (two of those twins). All boys. And, boy, are they all boy. This shoot was definitely a challenge for all of us AND a lot of fun.]
