I remembered a good friend of mine say, “Make sure you get out and shoot for fun, too.” Well, everything I shoot is fun for me, but his point was to shoot without any expectations or plan. Just to go out and shoot to see what you can get – whether it be good or bad – as there is no one to please but myself. 

It’s a good exercise. With a portrait shoot, I have a certain goal in mind. With weddings, it’s the same way. When you just go out and shoot with no plan of attack, it really makes you work outside your comfort zone.
I shot for about 10 minutes and came up with two shots I like well enough to share with you.

The patterns are what make this shot of glass blocks interesting to me.

I like the stains on the wall with this shot, both from whatever leached onto the limestone blocks on the above right and from the copper water spout on the left.
